Type 2 charging devices can incorporate additional signals superimposed on the CP line in the form of Local Interconnect Network (LIN) or Single Wire Controller Area Network (SWCAN) bus communications. These communications normally occur when the CP line duty cycle is between 3 % and 7 % (typically 5 %). Therefore, a duty cycle in this range indicates to the vehicle that the maximum available charging current is being communicated by means other than PWM. The communications can also provide the EVSE with additional information about the vehicle, the battery's states of charge (SOC) and health (SOH).
